The step counter on the original stride unit only works through manual resistance detected by the motor.
The only thing we can do to assist with the step counter functioning normally is making sure the belt of the unit is properly adjusted and tightened according to the instructions in the user manual. If the belt is too loose or misaligned it could cause the step counter to read incorrectly.
Additionally, we have come across issues with users on the lower end of the weight spectrum having persistent issues with the step counter and unfortunately there is nothing that can be done beyond making sure the belt is tight enough.
The only other thing we can do is bypass the manual function of the step counter by connecting the equipment to our application. You can use the application for free without a subscription and this will allow us access to digitally counted metrics that are more accurate.
- Turn Bluetooth & location on for the mobile device/phone.
- Open the Echelon Fit app on the device/phone.
- Enter your account email & password that you created for the app on the member site. Member site> (https://member.echelonfit.com/login)
- Tap on "More", in the bottom right corner.
- Tap on "Select Equipment".
- If your unit's name was already under the "My Equipment" list then no need to add it, just tap on the name once from the list.
- If you see nothing there, tap on the red plus sign in the top right corner & scroll till you see "Echelon Stride"
- After selecting your equipment from the list, you will be asked to enter the retailer you purchased it from and the purchase date. If you do not see your retailer you can choose Echelon, and the date can be any date, you can just pick todays date.
- You should be taken back to the "More" section of the app after tapping on the unit name.
- Select "Freestyle Run" from the "More" section of the app or if you have a subscription, go into the Featured and or On-Demand section of the app and select a class, and press play.
- You may get a red banner that has a white box in it that says "Disconnected, Tap here to reconnect". If you do, tap on the banner then choose your unit's serial number there.
Once we are connected to the app we can use proper distance calculation in miles/KM instead of the erroneous manual step measurement.
